| Bulletin Obituary for James Wilbur Savage
James Wilbur, a lifetime resident of Sterling, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Sterling Presbyterian Manor at the age of 58. He was born Oct. 6, 1940, at Sterling, the son of Frank WIlson and Jennie Mae Pearson Savage. He worked with his father in the Savage Construction Company and was a former Rice County EMS employee. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sterling, a former reserve officer for the Sterling Police Department and Rice county Sheriff’s Department, former Hunter Safety instructor, was involved with the Boy Scouts, was a member of the Native American Dance Team, and was the recipient of the White Buffalo Award. He was married to the former Carole E. Burgess and later to JoLe Griffis. Survivors include a son; three daughters; a sister; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Rev. James Graves. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rice/Reno County Hospice or Rice County EMS, both in care of Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling.
