The Rev. James Graves will conduct a funeral for Larry Sankey at 10: a.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church, Sterling. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery.
The lifetime resident, a rancher and stockman, died Saturday, May 22, 1993, at St. Francis Regional Center, Wichita. He was 59. Born October 30, 1933, in Sterling to Harley F. and Aldia Ross Sankey, he married Melva J. Shepler on August 16, 1953, in Wichita.
He was a 1955 graduate of Kansas State University.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Kum-Joy-Nus Class and a director of the First National Bank, all of Sterling; of the American Angus Association, the American Simmental Association, a member and former director of the Kansas Angus Association and the Kansas Simmental Association; a member of the 1954 K-State Livestock Judging Team, a former member of the Lions Club and former United Methodist Church trustee, both in Sterling, the Kansas Livestock Association and the National Cattleman’s [sic] Association.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, and five grandchildren.
Friends may call until 7 this evening at Porter and Sillin Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or to the church building fund, in care of the funeral home.
