Ezra Redshaw Cundith was born in July 1839 in Riding, Northumberland, his father, John, was 38 and his mother, Susannah, was 25. He married Elizabeth Duke in October 1861. They had four children in 16 years. He died in January 1928 in Yorkshire, at the age of 88.
