Thursday, March 14, 1974Sterling BulletinMrs. Elbl Dies After Short Illness Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Porter and Sillin Funeral Home for Mrs. Grace Elbl, who died Monday at the Sterling Community Hospital at the age of 82. Rev. Edward Rowley officiated at the services. Burial was in the Sterling Community Cemetery.Mrs. Elbl was born October 23, 1891, at Hutchinson and was married to Louis J. Elbl on February 3, 1909, at Norwich and moved to Sterling the following year. She was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include the widower; son, Bill, Crystal City, Mo.; daughter, Mrs. Vivian Goontz, Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials to the Sterling Community Hospital. Mrs. Elbl was the wife of Sterling’s oldest businessman, Louis Elbl, at the time of his retirement a year ago, had been a bootmaker and shoe repairman on Broadway for more than 60 years.
