William Mace ‘Jiggs’Stout, Mesa, Ariz., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 1991, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz. He was born Dec. 18, 1918, at Alden, the son of Frank M. and Eunice Proffitt Stout. He had been a resident of Mesa since 1969, moving from Nickerson. He was a farmer and a member of the Alden Baptist Church, Alden, and the American Legion, Sterling. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII.
He married Verlie Turpin at McPherson Sept. 19, 1941.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darlene Sue Colins, Dodge City, and Dixie Lou DiPaolo, Tampa, FL; three brothers, R.F., Hutchinson; Richard, Sterling; and Gene, Wichita Falls, Texas; five sisters, Sally Cole and Rosalee Nunemaker, Hutchinson; Roberta Drake, Lincoln, NE, Doris Caywood, Raymond; and Grace Kettle, McAllen, Texas; a sister-in-law, Eithel Gibson, Sterling; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Porter and Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. James Graves, officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
