Obituary
Dale Norman Snyder went to be with his Savior on June 12, 2022.
He was born June August 3, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to Olaff W and Edith (Smith) Snyder.
He grew up in Gary, IN and graduated in 1949 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. He met Louise Cathey there and the two of them were married at the Hayward Presbyterian Church in California on June 16, 1951.
After graduation from Westminster Seminary, he and Louise moved to Bangor, ME where he served as the organizing pastor at a missionary church. The first Sunday the congregation was quite small – Louise and a man with two of his children! He served there for five years.
Dale and Louise moved to The Netherlands, where he studied systematic theology at the Free University of Amsterdam under the guidance of G. C. Berkouwer and eventually earned a Th.D. while Louise served as an elementary and middle school principal.
He taught at Sterling College in Sterling, KS for 28 years, where he also served as Chair for the Religion Department and as interim Academic Dean. He and Louise, who served as the Director of the Library for 21 years, deeply enjoyed their close relationships with students and faculty.
His love for and trust in the Savior was apparent to those who knew him, as was his patient and understanding demeanor. As those who love him grieve, may they be comforted as he was by the hope of the resurrection.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise, and son, Marc.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Peter, his daughter-in-law, Tiffany, his two grandchildren, Grace and Marc, and his many friends.
Donations can be made in Dale’s name to Wedgwood Christian Services or to the Sterling College Marc Snyder Memorial Scholarship fund.

Dale died following a car crash in Kentwood, Kent County, Michigan on his way to church.
