Lyle D. Partlngton

Lyle D. Partington, 85, died Sept. 5, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Feb. 13, 1915, at Sterllng, the son of William W. and Rose E. Lanham Partington. A Hutchinson resident for 13 years, moving from Sterling, he was the owner and operator, of Sterling Bakery for 30 years,

He belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and the Together Sunday school class. He was a longtime, member of Sterling United Methodist Church, served as mayor of Sterling, and was a member of the Sterling City Commission for 12 years. He was past president and member of the Lions Club and the American Legion, both at Sterling. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a staff sergeant.

On Nov. 17, 1946, he married Mary Helen Shirk, at Sterling. She survives.

Other survivors include a son. Dr. Curtis R., Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Fay, Sterling, and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Danzis; and two brothers, Clarence, and Clyde.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Wesley Towers Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Revs. Nick Warner and Robert B. Brooks presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 am. To 9 p.m. today, at Elliott Mortuary; Hutchinson. Cremation is planned. Graveside service will be at 9 am. Friday, in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, in care of the mortuary.
