George Dunn Misner was born on November 8, 1833, his father, Ransom, was 23 and his mother, Margaret, was 23. He married Jane S. Maxwell on August 22, 1858, in Gardner, Illinois. They had five children in 19 years. He died on July 23, 1907, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 73, and was buried there.

Misner was born in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 9, 1833, and died in Sterling, Kansas, July 23, 1907, aged 73 years, 8 months and 14 days. In early manhood, he went west and settled in Illinois. Here he was married to Jane Maxwell, Aug. 22, 1858. To this union were born six children, three of whom are living. In 1864 he joined the army in defense of his country. Though enlisting in the last year of the mighty struggle he saw severe service, being in Eleven hard-fought battles. Such battles as Dalton, Resaca, Lost Mountain, Kenesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, the siege of Atlanta and marching with Sherman down to the sea. He was also a soldier in the army of the Great King having been converted in early manhood in Adams County, Ill., he joined the M. E. Church in which he remained a faithful member until his death. Mr. Misener came to Kansas over thirty years ago, where he has since resided, spending the last three years in Sterling. The funeral was held at the home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by Dr. A. O. Ebright, of the M. E. Church.
