U.S. VeteranBLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Harlan R. Martin, 89, died Oct. 12, 2005.

He was born July 25, 1916, in Hutchinson, the son of Vennie and Hazel Moon Martin and Gertrude Martin. A former Hutchinson resident, he was a 35-year employee of the St. Paul Companies.

He belonged to Forest Park Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include: his wife, Maurine; a son, Brad; a daughter, Margaret Jessen; two grandchildren, Dameon and Michael; and a great-grandchild, Jack.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Park Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Chris Davis presiding. Burial will be in Sterling City Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to the Macular Degeneration Association or the Society for the Blind, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Harlan’s mother, Hazel Belle (Moon) Martin died when Harlan was 1 1/2 yrs. old.  His next mother Gertrude Martin is buried in Memorial Park, Hutchinson, KS.
