STERLING – Robert E. Kirchoff, 85, died July 1, 2016, at Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Lyons, the son of Louis and Maude (Chance) Kirchoff.

He was a resident of Sterling since 1960, formerly of Bushton. Robert was a retired pipeline worker. He graduated from Bushton High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On Dec. 31, 1959, Robert was united in marriage with Colleen Bartow in Bushton. She preceded him in death June 25, 2009.

He is survived by two daughters, Kenda Clayton and Vicky Kirchoff, both of Sterling; two brothers, James Kirchoff of Garden City and Donald Kirchoff of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Ricky Kirchoff.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Sterling Community Cemetery, with pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at the Sterling Community Cemetery with military honors by the United States Air Force and the Sterling American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Sterling College Athletic Department, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
