Sterling – Charles L. Gilmore, 76, died May 27, 2003 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.
He was born June 29, 1926, at Osage Oklahoma, the son of Donald Bruce and Elizabeth Johnson Gilmore. A longtime Sterling resident, he was a retired farmer and entrepreneur.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Sterling Jaycees, all at Sterling, American Angus Association, Rice County Livestock Association, and was a former Rice County Commissioner.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant.
On Oct. 5, 1945, he married Maxime Miller at Sterling. She survives, of the home.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Newberry and Beulah Londoree.
Burial in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, Kansas.
