Sterling – Lex Milburn Gill, 80, died March 10, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Sylvia, the son of Carl Elmer and Edith Ankerholz Gill. He graduated in 1943 from Sylvia High School. A resident of Sterling, he was a retired corrosion technician for Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline. He belonged to United Methodist Church, American Legion, Sterling Country Club, and the Masonic Lodge, all in Sterling, and the Moose Lodge, Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. On June 8, 1947, he married Doris M. Frederick in Sterling. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Dan Wesley, Lyons, Lance David, Abilene, and Ronald Todd, Nickerson; a brother, Dwain G. Gill, Sylvia; a sister, Lila Reynolds, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Laveda Ukens.
Burial in Sterling Community Cemetery, with military graveside rites, conducted by the American Legion Post No. 128. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
