STERLING – Michel “Mike” A. Fabin, 74, died March 21, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Sterling, the son of Andrew Arthur and Vada Lorene Stout Fabin. He was a retired Junior High School Social Studies Teacher at Sterling Junior High, where he was assistant High School Football Coach, the first girls Jr. High Basketball Coach, and Jr. High Track Coach. Graduated Sterling High School class of 1960, graduated from Sterling College with a Teaching Degree and received a Master’s Degree from Emporia State.

 U. S. Navy veteran serving eight years during the Vietnam War, his memberships included: The Old Men’s Poker Club and Sterling Country Club. He married DeeAnn Porter Oct. 17, 1964, in Lyons. Survivors include: wife, DeeAnn; son, Drew and Kara Fabin, Lawrence; daughter, Laura and Jay Yoder, Hutchinson; sister, Mary Fabin, Little River; grandchildren, Zach Fabin and Emily and Adam Yoder.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Hutchison.

Visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Reverend Jeff Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy and the Sterling American Legion. Memorials may be made to Sterling Country Club, in care of the funeral home.
