Obituary

Ida Mary Dauber, 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly Sterling, Kansas, passed away December 9, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. She was born December 2, 1935, in Prosser, Washington, the daughter of Ed and Annie Goodhue Schader. Ida Mary resided in Seattle, Washington in her early years, and resided in Sterling from 1992 until 2017 when she moved to Kansas City. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Sterling College. Ida Mary taught elementary school in Seattle, before owning and operating The Sterling Flower Shop in Sterling for many years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling, Sterling Lions Club, Vintage Motor Car Club of America, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Ida Mary enjoyed traveling to visit her family in New Zealand. On May 27, 1958, Ida Mary was united in marriage with Norman Ellis Dauber in Sterling. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2021. She is also preceded in death by her parents. Ida Mary is survived by her daughter, Becky Lee Erickson and husband John Sheldon Erickson Jr. of Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 16, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling, with Pastor Melissa Krabbe officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to the Sterling College (for the faculty and staff) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
