Amanda E. Trent was born on January 15, 1846, in Spencer, Indiana, her father, Rev. T. Wilson Trent, was 29 and her mother, Lydia, was 19. She married Lorenzo Dow Hodge on September 13, 1867, in Owen County, Indiana. They had four children in 20 years. She died on August 4, 1937, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 91, and was buried there.

Lorenzo Dow Hodge was born 1 Aug 1847 in Owen County Indiana passed away 6 Aug 1937. They were married in Owen County 12 Sept 1867. They had four children. Larkin Wilson Hodge died in infancy. Surviving children V.S. Hodge of Hutchinson, Florence L. Bishop of Sterling and Wm. T. Hodge of Sterling. Five grandchildren Frank S. Hodge, Mrs. Helen Welch and Lorenzo Dow Hodge of Hutchinson, Mrs. Ida Walton of Witchita and Rev. W.E. Bishop of Belle Fourche, S. Dakota.Mr. and Mrs. Hodge came to Kansas in a covered wagon in 1876 taking a soldiers’ claim near Sterling.
